MULTIPLYING CREATIVE IDEAS AS A TEAM
Ever felt that you and your team have run out of ideas on volunteer recruitment, volunteer recognition and retention? Here’s a great way to generate a multitude of new ideas without really trying.
Grab a couple of good books on volunteer recruitment, volunteer retention and recognition. I happen to be biased towards these two books at the link below…

But you can use other books on the subject. Divide the number of chapters in the books by the number of volunteers on your team. Where there’s more volunteers than chapters, then form your volunteers into groups for each chapter.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT BRAINSTORMING SUCCESS SESSION
Arrange to hold a brainstorming session a month later with your volunteers or fellow staff involved with volunteers. Ask people to read only their chosen chapter with two aims for the upcoming session to:
1. explain the ideas in that chapter to everyone
2. add 3 more ideas of their own ‘sparked’ by the ideas from the chapter they read.
This is very powerful team learning. You’ll be absolutely amazed at just how many great ideas
the team will come up with, on volunteer recruitment and volunteer recognition, in this brainstorming session.

How about our new Volunteer whose job it is buy individual gifts for each of our Volunteers (over 300). This means that they have a year to contact each volunteer and find out their special interests, buy a present and gift-wrap it, so we can give a personalized gift with a card.

It’s not always about the volunteer recognition gift itself. It is what you do with that gift! The real value of the gift is in how you customize and personalize the volunteer recognition gift.
FOR THOSE IN VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
Let me explain further…a government organization contacted me to purchase a bulk order of my two books on volunteer management, volunteer recruitment and volunteer recognition.
They wanted to give a set of the 2 books to each of the voluntary organizations they had worked with during the year as a thank you present. Great idea! Books are always seen as valuable and useful gifts! YOUR VERY SPECIAL BOOK OFFER
