Volunteer Management and Really Listening

Volunteer recruitment, volunteer management and volunteer recognition ideas…

Hi Everyone,

Here’s a quick question for you in volunteer management. What is the most important communication skill of all? Most people think it’s about talking. Nope! It is the opposite. It is your ability to really and truly listen.

For those with volunteers this is so important to know.

When you learn how to truly use active listening, then you have more friends, more influence and can persuade and negotiate really effectively with so many more people than you could before. So let us go further on listening.

BUT HOW TO REALLY FOCUS

But here’s a quick idea to stop you being distracted and really listen to people. Listen with your EYES and not just your ears. If you set a goal to watch and read people’s body language as they speak, you will have to focus and not be distracted. Body language will tell you more about what the person means than the words they are using.

THANKS FOR REALLY LISTENING

Go on try! Listen with your eyes and when you do people will say “thanks for really listening”.
