Volunteer management, volunteer recruitment and also volunteer recognition ideas for you…

Hi Everyone,

GENERATING PUBLICITY IN VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT

So let's start with this idea from the book Count Me In! 501 Ideas on Recruiting Volunteers available by clicking on this link below...

IMAGE IS EVERYTHING IN PUBLICITY

In public relations and generating publicity, image is everything!

How your organization or group is perceived is critical to your volunteer recruitment success. Make sure the perception is a positive one. People may be interested in volunteering for months before they are in a position to join up. If they keep on hearing good things about you, when they’re ready, willing and able to volunteer, they’ll select you. Having a great image is very powerful in all your volunteer recruitment efforts.

Volunteer management, volunteer recruitment and volunteer recognition ideas for you…

Hi Everyone,

Last week we talked about emotional triggers in your volunteer recruitment material. You can find this tip and others all on this volunteer management blog…

Emotional triggers are extremely powerful. In completing the largest study undertaken on volunteer motivation, we found that the number one motivation given for volunteering was…”to help others”.

But simply putting “you’ll be helping others” on your recruitment material really is not using the powerful emotions behind this motivation.

SHOWING SOME REAL EMOTION IN VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT

So here is a question for you. How do you take this motivation of “helping others” and add some benefits and emotional triggers?

To get you thinking – let me ask another question. When your volunteers are “helping others” what really are some of the deep emotional benefits they receive?

Next week I’ll share some more suggestions with you.

Volunteer Management and Must Do Volunteer Recognition No 5

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Volunteer management and ideas on volunteer recruitment and volunteer recognition

Hi All,

Now here we go with another idea for you on…

SUCCESSFUL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION

The fifth ‘must do’ component to make your volunteer recognition and appreciation program truly successful.

KEY MUST DO NUMBER 5 – BE CONTINUOUS AND FREQUENT

Fifthly, be continuous and frequent in your recognition. Understand that recognition is never a once-off event – it is an ongoing process. Each and every day, find someone doing something well and acknowledge them.

Praise can be short-lived and wear off quickly. Leave it several months before praising again and the volunteer’s perception will become one of not being appreciated. Find ways to provide frequent and continuous volunteer recognition and appreciation to your volunteers.
