Volunteer recruitment, volunteer management and volunteer recognition ideas for you…

Hi Everyone,

This week I’d like to push you even further on talking about FEATURES VS BENEFITS. Last week we took features and changed them to benefits…

1. a shop open 24 hours a day = the benefit of being able to shop anytime.

2. a toy with batteries included = the benefit of playing with the toy instantly.

3. a personalized fitness program = the benefit of a fitness program designed just for you.

MORE POWERFUL DEEPER EMOTIONAL BENEFITS

But there are even more powerful benefits and they focus on emotional triggers. Here’s an example for each of the features above…

1. when my child wakes up in pain at midnight I can get basic pain relieving medication for them.

2. when my child opens their Christmas present I’ll see their smiling face as the toy works instantly.

3. I’ll get fit working at my own pace and without being embarrassed trying to keep up with others.

CHANGING TO EMOTIONAL TRIGGERS

Can you see how even more powerful these emotional benefits are? So here’s the question for you to think about…What are the deep emotional triggers found in your volunteer recruitment material?

Volunteer management and more on volunteer recruitment material

Volunteer management, volunteer recognition and volunteer recruitment ideas for you…

Hi Everyone,

Last week I talked about features versus benefits.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FEATURES VERSUS BENEFITS

So what is the difference between features versus benefits? Very simply, features tell and benefits sell. Features are about the what and benefits are about the why. Features focus on the head and benefits on the heart.

CHANGING FEATURES TO BENEFITS FOR YOUR VOLUNTEERS

So how do you change more features into your benefits? Karen Goldfarb, a major copywriter provides a great way to do this. You simply add “which means” to any feature to make it a benefit.

For example, in my upcoming Super Success Seminars…You’ll learn 6 strategies to be more productive which means you’ll be less stressed and get more done and in much less time. Now they are great benefits…

At the seminars we’ll be turning all of your features into benefits.

THE CHALLENGE FOR YOU NOW

So here is the challenge for you right now. Look at your volunteer recruitment material. Can you take the features and add benefits to all of them?

Cheers
