Hi Everyone,
Last week we considered the orientation process for new volunteers. Here is another idea for you to consider on
NEW VOLUNTEERS AND TWO QUESTIONS
When new volunteers begin with your group or organization there are two main questions that they ask themselves.
Question A: Am I going to be able to do the work I’ve been asked to do?
Question B: Will I fit in?
Guess which question is the most important to volunteers and for you in volunteer management to be aware of?
In volunteer recruitment, it is important to understand that it is the basic human need of feeling like you fit in. When you feel like you fit in – you are likely to volunteer more and stay longer as a volunteer. The most important thing to do is to help new volunteers fit in and feel like they belong as quickly as possible.
