Volunteer management, volunteer recognition and volunteer recruitment information for you…

Hi All,

This week I have the most powerful concept for you and a special announcement.

THE MOST POWERFUL CONCEPT

Firstly, let me remind you of the most powerful concept in volunteer recruitment. It is the number one reason why people volunteer – it is because they were ASKED.

So as I explain to everyone at my seminars – make it the main goal of your recruiting efforts to ask as many people as possible and find as many opportunities as possible to ask them.

THE VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Secondly, a special announcement. For the past two years I have not presented any public workshops. I’ve been busy researching more new and innovative ideas for you on volunteer management, volunteer recruitment, retention and volunteer recognition.

Now that’s about to change! I’ve designed a brand new seminar series to share all these new strategies, tips and techniques.

However, it is currently only available for everyone based in Western Australia. Now don’t worry – I haven’t forgotten everyone else and will be rolling it to other states and locations later on and you can still read all about it.

SUPER SUCCESS SEMINARS

But if you are based in WA, you can lock your places for July and join me for the upcoming…

Volunteer Management and More on Temp Volunteers

Volunteer management, volunteer recruitment and volunteer recognition thoughts for you…

Hi All,

HERE’S SOME MORE ON TEMP VOLUNTEERS

In the previous email I spoke about what I call ‘temp’ volunteers.  These volunteers come in to relieve regular volunteers so they can take a break from their volunteer work.

LYNDA FROM CANADA AND A GREAT IDEA

Lynda has sent in another example of ‘temp’ volunteers.  She explains…

“You can develop a Youth Volunteer program for the summer months. If your year round volunteers work in pairs it allows year round volunteers a break and they take turns taking holidays and the youth fill the holiday spot.

It’s a real win….year round volunteers have a guilt free break and youth get to learn and experience volunteering and they accumulate hours for resumes and secondary school requirements”.

Thanks Lynda a great idea and thanks for sharing.  If you use ‘temp’ volunteers we’d be delighted to read your thoughts – just click on comments below and add your ideas.

Cheers

Volunteer Management and Using the Temp Volunteer

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Volunteer management, volunteer recognition and more ideas on volunteer recruitment for you…

Hi Everyone,

Here’s a quick tip for you now on…

VOLUNTEER RETENTION

How do you retain volunteers longer? After all, volunteer retention is just as important as volunteer recruitment. One way is to give them a break. Paid staff have holidays what about your volunteers? Actually giving your volunteers an annual break can increase the length of time they are retained. But it can also make your volunteer recruitment efforts even more successful.

THE TEMP VOLUNTEER

So have you thought of designing a volunteer ‘temp’ system to regenerate those tired volunteers.

Have a back-up team of temporary volunteers who only need to come in every so often to relieve your current volunteers. This is a great way of ensuring they take some annual leave – just as paid staff do – to recharge the batteries.

One idea from 501 in the book – Count On Me! 501 Ideas on Retaining, Recognizing and Rewarding Volunteers
