Volunteer management, volunteer recruitment and volunteer recognition ideas for you…

Hi Everyone,

Last week we talked about emotional triggers in your volunteer recruitment material. You can find this tip and others all on this volunteer management blog…

Emotional triggers are extremely powerful. In completing the largest study undertaken on volunteer motivation, we found that the number one motivation given for volunteering was…”to help others”.

But simply putting “you’ll be helping others” on your recruitment material really is not using the powerful emotions behind this motivation.

SHOWING SOME REAL EMOTION IN VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT

So here is a question for you. How do you take this motivation of “helping others” and add some benefits and emotional triggers?

To get you thinking – let me ask another question. When your volunteers are “helping others” what really are some of the deep emotional benefits they receive?

Next week I’ll share some more suggestions with you.

HAVE A GUESS – WHAT DO YOU THINK?

1. The benefit of being able to shop anytime

Volunteer management and more on volunteer recruitment material

Volunteer management, volunteer recognition and volunteer recruitment ideas for you…

Hi Everyone,

Last week I talked about features versus benefits.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FEATURES VERSUS BENEFITS

So what is the difference between features versus benefits? Very simply, features tell and benefits sell. Features are about the what and benefits are about the why. Features focus on the head and benefits on the heart.

CHANGING FEATURES TO BENEFITS FOR YOUR VOLUNTEERS

So how do you change more features into your benefits? Karen Goldfarb, a major copywriter provides a great way to do this. You simply add “which means” to any feature to make it a benefit.

For example, in my upcoming Super Success Seminars…You’ll learn 6 strategies to be more productive which means you’ll be less stressed and get more done and in much less time. Now they are great benefits…

At the seminars we’ll be turning all of your features into benefits.

THE CHALLENGE FOR YOU NOW

So here is the challenge for you right now. Look at your volunteer recruitment material. Can you take the features and add benefits to all of them?

Cheers
